What a lot of rubbish! April 18, 2008
Posted by elps in : Community, Eco schools, Enterprise , 2commentsThe whole school was out and about in the village this morning, dressed in protective tabards and gloves and wielding litter pickers. It was a damp and drizzly morning but that did not deter us and we collected a fantastic amount of litter - 8 large sacks full!
Thanks to all the parent and community helpers who joined in.
Willow Den April 18, 2008
Posted by elps in : Uncategorized , 1 comment so farThe Nursery children were very lucky to go out to watch the planting of the exciting new willow den in the playground. They were amazed to find out that the willow didn’t have any roots! We learned that the willow just starts to grow when it is planted into the soil. Helen told us that the very tall willow you can see, took two years to grow.
Nursery visit our new wildlife garden April 18, 2008
Posted by elps in : Nursery , 1 comment so farBoys and girls from our Nursery class have been out and about in the school grounds having a look at the work on the wildlife garden. We checked the plan and watched it come to life. We especially enjoyed watching the helpers build the stone wall. We learned it was four meters long. It is great fun watching our new garden grow and we are looking forward to getting in there!
The Big Spring Clean April 16, 2008

This Friday (18th April) the whole school is taking part in “Keep Scotland Beautiful” Big Spring Clean. We are going out and about in the village to give it a tidy up. We are proud of our village and want to do our bit to show that we are responsible citizens who care for the environment we live in. We would love to have some more parents and friends join us - if you give us a call beforehand on 860216 we can allocate you to a particular class. If not, you can just turn up at school at 11am.
Keep Scotland Beautiful have supplied us with some bright yellow tabards so you won’t miss us, and the council are supplying us with protective gloves and litter pickers.
Outdoor classroom April 14, 2008
Posted by elps in : Eco schools, Primary 1, Primary 4 , add a commentOur outdoor classroom is taking shape! Parent helpers have been working at school today, planting the willow structure which will surround the ‘den’ area. Primary 4 helped with the planting and Primary 1 gave the willow a good watering this afternoon.
