We met Tara Sykes at the Dunbar Pool and there were 6 parents to help. She talked aboutthe castle and Black Agnes. I saw a cannon ball in the castle wall. We saw a camera and it could hear us. There was a secret passage underground up to the High Street.
I saw Sammy the seal in the harbour. There was a hospital for people who had disease. There was a well where people get water.

P3C visitied Dunbar Castle and Harbour June 12, 2007
Posted by Aline Denholm in : P3, Uncategorized , add a commentI really enjoyed our trip to the castle and harbour. We got a tour by Tara Sykes, she is the country ranger. We met her at the swimming pool. 6 parents came to help. It was very misty. We sat down on the bench and she told us a story about Black Agnes. it was very good. We stood up and walked down a slope. And we could have a better look at the castle. We could see some arrow slit windows. A cannon ball was stuck onto a rock on one of the castle walls. We couldn’t see the Bass Rock because it was so misty. After that we got showed a barometer, some of it was broken. The harbour was quite smelly, she also showed us the battery it was for people who had disease and didnt want to pass it on to anybody so they would put them in the battery. But after world war 1 all the soldiers who had injeries got put there and it turned into a hospital for soldiers who had been in the war. We saw Sammy the seal as well. When John Muir was little he used to jump over all the boats. We also went to see the well people used to have to get their water. I really enjoyed our trip.
