Anzac Biscuits

We had a party for Kayleigh yesterday as it is her last week at school because she is moving to Australia Mrs V made Anzac Biscuits for us they were lovely here is a picture of the party,Anzac Biscuits and the Recipe for the Biscuits.

This is the Recipe for the Anzac Biscuits

INGREDIENTS
1 cup rolled oats
3/4 cup desiccated coconut
1 cup plain flour
1 cup sugar
125g (4oz) butter
2 tablespoons golden syrup
1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda, 1 tablespoon water

Preheat oven to 300F (150C)

Mix oats, flour, sugar and coconut together.
Melt syrup and butter together.
Mix soda with boiling water and add to melted butter and syrup.
Add to dry ingredients.
Place 1 tablespoonfuls of mixture on greased tray (allow room for spreading).
Bake for 20 minutes.
Loosen while warm, cool on trays.
(makes about 35)

My Australian Facts

1)Australian`s christmas holiday comes in the middle of the summer.

2)Australia is the largest island in the world.

3)Australia has nine sheep for every one person.

4)Australian law impoes fines on people who do not vote and do not wear seat belts.

                                                                                               Kangaroos

1)A Kangaroo is a marsupial.It is a macropod which means”big foot”.

2)There are over 40 different types (species) of Kangaroo.

3)The smaller ones are usually called Wallabies.The largest is the red Kangaroo.

4)It stands taller than a man and weighs about 85kg`s.It is the largest marsupial in the world.

                                                                                                      Koalas

1)Koalas aren`t bears as many people are led to believe.They aren`t even related to bears.The Koala is related to the Kangaroo and the wombat.The Koala is a mammal.The reason the Koala is called a Koala bear is because the Koala looks like a teddy bear.The Koala`s scientific name is Phasclarctos Cinereus.

2)Now there are only 2,000 to 8,000 Koalas in the wild! Although not officially classified as endangered, the population of Australian Koalas has dropped by 90% in less than a decade!

                                                                                               Facts

1)A male Kangaroo is called a boomer.

2)A female Kangaroo is called a flyer.

3)A baby Kangaroo is called a Joey.

Miss Goodsir`s Leaving Party

Callendar House

Hi today we went to callendar house it was really good we got to dress up in world war 2 clothes we wore a jumper and a hat they were really cool but they were a wee bit itchy.We had to pretend that we were on a train but it was just a cd player with train noises.We were pretending that we were very sad because we were pretending to be getting evacuated from our houses.
