After a very successful AGM we now have a full committee of parents and have to elect co-opted members, which we will do on Thursday. If you would like to come along to the meeting, but are not on the committee you will be warmly welcomed. All parents can attend meetings and are allowed to speak on issues, but do not have a vote.
If anyone would like to put an item on the agenda (it is too late for this meeting, but in future) contact Gaynor at the gate or put a note into the office addressed to me. Please note we are only allowed to talk about general issues involving the school, andcan NEVER discuss any personal details of any child.
As well as the usual business we have to attend to, I would like to take a general topic to discuss. Please feel free to give ideas. On Thursday we will discuss establishing a Sports Committee and how we can help to improve sports in general at the school.
FUNDRAiSING COMMITTEE, Friday, October 2, at 9am.
We had a great response to calls for a fundraising committee, and thank you to everyone who turned up.
We are planning a family disco and another Christmas Fair, more details to follow. We also discussed each class having a pennies jar to raise moneyfor the new playground. Children will be invited to bring along their pennies every week (bronze only) and this will be counted up and added to our funds every term. Another fantastic idea for next term is a huge C Factor competition as Campie definitely has talent. All kids will be invited to join, and this could be a fantastic family night out. All parents are going to be asked to ask their employers if they have funds for schools. Many organisations give cash or offer help. If you don’t know if your employers have such a scheme please ask. Every little helps.
If you’d lilke to come along to this very informal group please do. Refreshments available.
PLAYGROUND MEETING, Friday, October 2, at 10am.
We carried out an audit of the school grounds a couple of weeks ago and looked at what was available. It was roughly decided we would look at a trim trail, huge playboat, amphitheatre, wildlife garden and living willow play area/storytelling area. Ms Laing is asking the children if they approve of these and where they think they should go. There’s a lot of work to be done, but it was thought we could start on the willow area within the next couple of months. We will apply for Awards for All and other funding as soon as possible. Again we urge all parents to ask if there are any funds available from their employers.
As usual, if you would like to join us you are most welcome. You do not have to commit to coming to every meeting, and all help is gratefully received.
Thanks again, Gaynor

Campie Coffee Morning August 29, 2009
Posted by Gaynor Allen in : Uncategorized , 1 comment so farWhat a fabulous turnout we had to our annual coffee morning yesterday. I think everyone will agree that it was well worth the effort as Ms Laing, our new head, was better than a Fringe show! I think a good time was had by all.

Thank you so much to everyone who donated home baking. What a fabulous treat we all had. We had so many buns and cakes that we went on to sell the leftovers at the school gate and made a whopping £34. 24, which will start up our new Playground fund
.
It was good to see so many people and lots of new faces. We had lots and lots of parents sign up to help in various aspects of the school. It is vitally important that parents and carers play an active part in the school, and we will do our best to ensure this happens. If anyone has any ideas to help enhance school life they are more than welcome to voice them on the parent or school pages, through the school or through the parent council.
Our next Parent Council meeting is the Annual General Meeting on Thursday, September 10 at 7pm when we will be looking for more PC members. For anyone who wants to come along but not join the council, please feel free. It’s actually Ms Laing’s birthday so we will be having wine and cake!
Anyone who couldn’t make the coffee morning but wishes to help out at the school in some way, can sign up in the office or on the website when I work out how to do this!. We have cards giving various options for helping. Please remember we value all offers of how no matter how big or how small!
Welcome back August 25, 2009
Posted by Gaynor Allen in : Uncategorized , 1 comment so farHello to all parents and carers,
After consulting with parents on how keep in touch,an overwhelming number of you said you wanted us to beef up the blog. So here goes! We’ll do our best, but bear with us and keep blogging so let us know you’re out there.
First of all welcome to our new headteacher Sheila Laing. Ms Laing has already made her presence felt as she has tried to meet and greet as many parents as possible. What a busy time she’s had. If you haven’t already had the pleasure of meeting her (or even if you have), come along to the coffee morning on Friday, August 28, from 9 to 11, or come to the AGM on Thursday, September 10.
This is an exciting time for Campie, and there will obviously be changes made. Please try to get involved in as many things as possible. Parents have already been given a wish and two stars to indicate one thing we would like to change at the school, and two things we like - so please try and return your thoughts asap.
Maybe we could do a similar thing, by asking you what you like and would like to change about parental involvement with the school, and what direction you would like to see the Parent Council take.
See you on Friday.
