Working with the Adventure Author team today Groups 1 & 2 were shown how to make characters talk to the player. The programme allows you to create choices for the player and to plan different outcomes according to the choice they make: if you agree to help the bear, it might not eat you!

Groups 2 & 3 also worked on their Project Journals today and started to form ideas about what their story might be: who are the main characters? who are the helpers? who are the villains?  what is the quest?

Out of these discussions we also talked about the sort of names characters in the Fantasy genre have, and also what special or magical objects might form part of the player’s quest.

What is the magic formula? April 15, 2008

Today we worked in groups to brainstorm the ingredients for a good story and what the recipe might be.

Some of our ideas included:

Types of characters: Heroes, Villans and Helpers

Other essentials of the plot: Journey/Quest/Mission, and magical objects from pumpkins and cauldrons to swords and wands.

All of these are needed, and in the right order, to make a great story!
