P7 Bake Sale January 22, 2009

On Tuesday 20th January the P7s had a bake sale to raise money for our charity, The Make A Wish Foundation.
We started off a couple of days in advance drawing flyers and posters to be put up round the school. Then on Monday everyone went home and made a scrumptious piece of homemade baking each.
Each house took it in turns to run the stalls and as each class came down to the sale, more and more of the delicious looking cakes dissappeared from the plates.
The bigger pieces of baking were priced at 30p, most of the cupcakes were 20p and the smaller things were 10p.
We raised a total of £195.40. Fantastic and thank you all!

On Monday the 12th of January P7 had there first visit from Scottish Opera. We had a trained opera specialist in to help us with Pre- show rehearsals and his name was Rodger. He started by having a little listen to how well we knew the songs that we had been practising for weeks on end. He seemed to be very pleased with how well we new the songs. He gave us some tips for holding long notes and working on volume but over all he was very pleased with our effort and progress. Then he worked through the songs as they will come in our big performance as he did each song he also played the piano , which we had to sing above this made it extremely hard. He also told us that we would be acting as well so we had to work really hard to memorise the lyrics so we didn’t have a mind blank on the big day. We will be having another visit from Scottish Opera on the 26th of January for our final rehearsal and then we will have our big performance later that afternoon . P7 pupils have been given 1 ticket per pupil so we hope to see mums, dads friends and family at the P7 performance of The sand of time. In April all of the schools in the Musselburgh cluster will be meeting at Musselburgh Grammar for an even bigger performance in font of each other and on the big stage. We hope to see that every child has someone there to support our hard work. Thanks, From Sarah Brown & Jenna McDonald P7B.
