Poppy Factory Trip February 27, 2009
Posted by campiep67 in : Uncategorized , 1 comment so farYesterday on the 26th of Febuary P7b and some of the P7s from 6/7 made the trip across Edinburgh to visit the Lady Haig’s Poppy Factory.
There we learned all about how the charity began and the story of one boy who died in the 1st W.W aged 16.
Then we split into three groups and were led around the factory meeting the men who work there and finding out how the vast amount of Poppies are made every year. We even got the chance to make our own poppies to take home.
Exploring the factory is a really fun experience and the whole of P7 enjoyed the trip.
P7 & 6/7 Opera Proformance February 6, 2009
Posted by campiep67 in : Uncategorized , add a commentWe were all very lucky to be visited by Scottish Opera on the 26th January. After practising for at least two weeks before, we were all very excited to have them help and choreograph our proformance to all the parents.
The story of the Sands Of Time began with the Explorers (P7a) searching for the Sacred Eye, a ancient Egyptian gem that was lost in the war between the Egyptians (P7b) and the Assyrians (P6/7). The Explorers needed to learn more about the history of the diamond before the Nile floods and the well overflowed. They traveled back in time to the time of the battle and watched as the mighty Assyrians concered the Egyptians and killed their pharaoh. After all the Egyptians had wished and prayed, the war was lost.
The show ended with the discovery of the Sacred Eye down a well but it turned out to just be made of worthless quartz. Then we all sang Time After Time, a song about not giving in to greed.
We all enjoyed the experience very much especially the wonderful costumes we got to dress in!
P7 Bake Sale January 22, 2009
Posted by campiep67 in : Uncategorized , add a commentOn Tuesday 20th January the P7s had a bake sale to raise money for our charity, The Make A Wish Foundation.
We started off a couple of days in advance drawing flyers and posters to be put up round the school. Then on Monday everyone went home and made a scrumptious piece of homemade baking each.
Each house took it in turns to run the stalls and as each class came down to the sale, more and more of the delicious looking cakes dissappeared from the plates.
The bigger pieces of baking were priced at 30p, most of the cupcakes were 20p and the smaller things were 10p.
We raised a total of £195.40. Fantastic and thank you all!
