Newhailes Visit - P5 May 16, 2008
Posted by Mrs Roy in : P5 , add a commentThis week all the primary five classes walked up to Newhailes woods as part of our John Muir Award. We made a human tree, identified trees from their leaves and played a game about growing a seed. We al had a really good time even though we were tired from walking so far. We are well on our way to getting our John Muir Award by the end of term.
African Art March 21, 2008
Posted by Mrs Roy in : P5, Uncategorized , 5commentsHaving just finished our project on Africa, we created a huge African-style pattern using brightly coloured paints. We worked in pairs to design and paint them which meant we had to use our team work skills.
We looked at African clothes for ideas and to make sure our patterns were as African-looking as they could be.
It is on display outside our classroom so let us know what you think!
World Book Day - P5B March 7, 2008
Posted by Mrs Roy in : P5 , 3commentsThursday 6th March was World Book Day. Our class decided to celebrate it by dresseing up as our favourite characters from our favourite books. We also brought in our favourite books and shared them with others in the class. We brought in lots of different books, from long novels to comics.
We have started reading a class novel called Holes. Part of our work on Thursday was to design a new front cover for the book, based on what we know about the story so far. Look out for some of them on our website!
At the end of the day we were each given a book token which we will use towards buying a book to read at home.
We had a really good day!
P5 Science Week February 13, 2008
Posted by Steve Wood in : P5, Uncategorized , 3commentsWe recently had our school science week which we all really enjoyed. Our topic was sound and light. We took part in lots of experiments in class and we even had a visiting show called ‘Good Vibrations’. Maestro and his assistant showed us how sound travelled through different materials. We especially liked the rap we created at the end of the show.
We are continuing to look at sound and light in class for the next few weeks. We will post some pictures on the website soon so you can see what we’ve been doing.
