Autumn Watch at Newhailes - P2 November 14, 2008

What a miserable day of weather we had for our Autumn Watch, but despite the cold and wet the children had a good time. We looked at berries and funghi and played a parachute game. Challenge and outdoor learning (in all weathers) is a big part of what we are trying to do in P2. This visit had a good mix of both. Thanks to the Ranger and parents who helped with this trip. We have a winter watch in December - hope the weather is more kind!

Primary 2 had lots of fun yesterday celebrating Golden Well Done Day! They were split into their houses so they could mix with children from other classes. They then rotated round the 3 class teachers.
Miss Flaherty put them through their paces in drama with a mixture of games. They loved a game called “snapshot” where they spent time acting out a scene e.g. pirates on a beach, and when snapshot was called they had to freeze as if a picture was being taken.
Mrs Walker helped the children to make Valentine’s cards for their loved ones. The children spent a great deal of time and care over these.
Mrs Dickson took the children outside to sketch the school. Some of these sketches were amazing and the children were really proud of their efforts.
