Primary 1 children have been learning all about water by doing different experiments. They have looked at water and ice outside and even measured and marked puddles to see how they evaporate through the day just from the heat of the sun. They have frozen and boiled water and tested materials to find out which ones will sink and which ones will float. Some children even discovered that they could make a material float by changing its shape!! This week our designers designed, built and tested their own boats and the ones which survived the water tray found their way home today. What brilliant scientists we have in the Open Plan!!
On the 5th February (Friday) Campies P5, 6 & 7’s went to the swimming gala finals at Prestonpans. Campie’s done especially well this year coming 8 points away from Law coming second. We won a shield for second place and also the boys P6 relay team and Seth Allan won their events. It was really good fun but the best part was you got to skip a whole days school - yippee, but really all that mattered was taking part. WELL DONE CAMPIE SWIM TEAM! by Lauren Hall P6b

P2 and P1/2 joined Benny and Jack on a journey of discovery while they learned what children in different places around the world are doing at exactly the same time. Why is one child getting up just as another goes to bed?
We all thoroughly enjoyed the show and it made us think carefully about what we learned before Christmas!
Playground fund gets £10,000!
Published by February 6th, 2010 in Dates for the diary, Parents, Playground and Uncategorized. 2 CommentsWe have a trim trail, we have a boat - and now we have another £10,000 to spend!
Awards For All (the lottery) has given us the cash to help us with the playground, and we have big plans to spend it.
Before the end of the Easter holidays the trim trail and boat will be joined by an amphitheatre, another boat and fabby resurfacing in the quiet garden (that isn’t so quiet).
The £10,000 brings our total to £23,000 - which is totally amazing in just five months!
We received £1,000 from the Daisy Chain Trust, £2,000 from the After School Club, £5,000 from the school and the other £5,000 from parents through our fabulous fundraising efforts.
A massive thank you goes to the fundraising committee and of course to ALL parents, family and friends who have supported us.
Carry on the good work everyone, and don’t forget to turn out in force for our next fundraiser - Campie’s Got Talent. We promise this will be a night to remember.
P5a have been thinking about how living things slowly change as they adapt to different environments. We used a piece of string to represent a timeline going back about 545 million years. We were really surprised that 200000 years of modern humans evolving is actually a very short period of time compared to how long some other living things have continued to change. Maybe we haven’t finished evolving after all!
Well done P4C! I’m so proud of all of you working hard to be chosen as class of the week at Tuesday’s assembly. You’ve been trying hard for so long now. It just shows you CAN do it if you KEEP GOING!
I’m sure you all enjoyed the extra time outside today as a reward. What an amazing class!!
Miss Napier
Primary 3 have been busy, busy, busy learning about the vikings. We designed and created these fantastic longboats for homework- aren’t they great! We have loads of viking art work on display in our class rooms and we have also been learning a song called Viking Rock.
On 26th January, P5 enjoyed a dance session with Beth Noble, as part of their John Muir Award. We worked really well together and by the end had put together a series of movements to represent an earthquake. Ch eck out the photos to see us at work.
The Primary 2 children are learning to plan and sequence their ideas. They are sharing interesting facts about their favourite toys by presenting a short talk. We have been focusing on making eye contact with our audience and using a clear voice. The class is responding by using good listening skills and asking sensible questions. Thank you for helping your child to prepare their talk at home and well done to the boys and girls for making such a good effort!
Thank you from Mrs McLeod, Mrs Di Rollo and Miss Mcnaughton.
