BBQ
We have just returned from a lovely evening at Ceci and Brett’s house in Yosemite, where they held a BBQ for us. It was great to see some of the people who were visiting Scotland two weeks ago, and to look over their photos of our country put on by an excellent slide-show… It was strange seeing pictures of Dunbar, and the Dunbar Parade whilst here, so far away from it all.
Andy piped us through Yosemite Village, and we ended up with people following our Scottish procession, thinking we must be important people if we had a piper and lots of flags!!
Thanks very much to Ceci and Brett for having us, both at their house, and at the school. We really appreciate the hospitality. (And thanks for the pizzas the other night too!!!)

I just thought I wanted to add that Brett and I and the Yosemite community have so enjoyed hosting these young people and special thanks to Alice for making this possible (I know what it is to put together one of these trips)!
You (parents) should all be very proud of your young people, we have found them to be charming, smart, friendly and a pure delight to be around.
As for last night’s arrival at our little gathering, AWESOME! We were all visiting, sharing our past experiences on our journeys to Scotland when we began to hear the pipes… far away at first and then coming closer, we all moved to the front of the house and the kids headed out into woods to find the procession from Scotland who were singing your National Anthem as they approached, waiving their flags…it was the best thing ever, it really touched our hearts and more than a few had tears in their eyes… your kids are so generous!
Oh, and I thought I would tell you, the kids left at the end of the evening (thanks for sitting through all my husbands photos) with glow-in-the-dark bracelets…and everyone else left my house waiving their Saltire flags….
I am really counting the days until I get to return to Dunbar with my youngest daughter. Oh, and I thought I should mention in response to an earlier comment, the pipes where fantastic, Andy does your country proud! And kids, thanks for the book, I love it!…hope to see you all soon, Ceci.

I know Andy will groan at this but I had tears streaming down my face as we are so proud of him and the rest of the group for being wonderful ambassadors for Scotland and more importantly Dunbar
