Local Blokarting Award January 26, 2008

High winds today at Belhaven bay for a CPD course for 8 East Lothian Staff. The aim is to encourage teachers and youth leaders within East Lothian to discover Blokarting and to work towards leading and teaching groups this fun sport. It has many of the elements of sailing but you can get groups up to speed, using them and achieving results in a short space of time - excellent for building self confidence. As you improve you can start to tune your skills and wind awareness and the group today certainly did that. I hope that most of the course members today will go on to gain the Local Award and get out there using them with pupils and groups. Feedback so far would indicate that is the case. Good Luck with future Karting, thanks for attending, have fun and get out there and use them. Sorry about the wet feet.

Well done everyone - it certainly looked an excellent day for skelping along, wheels off the ground nicely……
I’m sure a good salt water bath is supposed to be great for the feet?
It will be great if we can get more groups out land sailing within the council.

Great course, I will defo. be looking to extend my experience and am looking to gain the local award in order that I can take young people out to experience Blokarting for themselves, I am particularly keen to take out members of the Pennypit Special Needs Youth Club
Looks like fun - do you build blogkarts or can you buy them somewhere?
Hans,
You buy them. Its a brand originated from New Zealand

They I am sure will be excellent for your club group. Anything we can do to help get you running with them let us know.
The tandem (shadow) would work well for all the members of your group regardless of ability.
