Jingle Bells - Forest School Style. December 19, 2007
Posted by Bill in : Outdoor Learning , add a commentA recent visit to the Saltoun PS forest school class provided an opportunity for a quick recording using my mobile phone. I used AMR converter to transfer from my mobile phone . Then Audacity to edit as recommended on Alan Coady’s Musical Blog.
Merry Christmas to all involved in the Saulton Primary Forest School. It looks like they will have a packed programme next term.
Eco Centre Registration for Innerwick Outdoor Centre. December 10, 2007
Posted by Bill in : Innerwick Outdoor Centre, Outdoor Learning , 2commentsWe have just registered Innerwick Outdoor Centre on the Eco Centre Scheme. It’s going to be interesting going for full registration (i.e. green flag) as it’s an unstaffed centre, which will bring it’s own problems to completing the award. We are positive we can acheive the full award and are going for it. We have completed our eco audit and hope to get the eco policy up and running soon. Visitors can recycle now which is a step forward and we have managed to reduce energy use. We do need a lot of work in the grounds and are always looking for ideas and visiting groups to get involved. Unlike the Eco schools we have to go straight for Green Flag, i.e. no bronze or silver awards. If you want to get involved during your stay at the centre please let me know.

Posted by Bill in : Outdoor Learning , add a commentAs per my earlier post, we now have have a date for Scottish Outdoor Access Code Training. This is a great opportunity for staff in East Lothian involved in working with groups in the outdoors to gain knowledge to help integrate the code into their teaching. The course is being run by IOL. It will be held at Innerwick Outdoor Centre at 1300 on the 21st January 2008. Invites are out through the users group however if you have not received an email please contact me if you wish to attend.
S6 Outdoor Challenge 2007 December 1, 2007
Posted by Bill in : Challenges, Outdoor Learning , 3commentsCongratulations to Preston Lodge High School for taking home the trophy from this years challenge at Yellowcraig. Once again a fantastic performance from all the East Lothian Secondary School S6 teams. The wet weather didn’t bother our teams - they just got on with it. I had the opportunity this year to see more of the teams around the challenges and it was a pleasure to meet them and see them work so well together. These confident individuals are an advertisement for East Lothian Education. We wish them all well in there future adventures. Thanks again to all the staff in the schools who let this happen and of of course the Rangers for their support.
