Just back from a few days up North. Fantastic kayaking on Loch Laxford & Loch Cadh Fiup near Scourie and great to finally visit Cape Wrath area. Unfortunately bad weather forced us East after a gale force wind at Sango Bay played havoc with our camping arrangements. A great youth hostel at Kyle of Tongue provided sanctuary. Great to see seals of Strathay point. The retreat east provided a chance to visit Helmsdale and Dunrobin Castle, the sea of the Duke of Sutherland much hated by the Scots for his clearance policies.A fantastic castle to visit all the same.
Visiting Dornoch on the journey south we stayed at the best campsite I have ever had the pleasure to stay at with a fantastic setting- we could paddle to the sea just a few feet from the tent via a burn. Image above is of Loch Laxford from the summit of Ben Stack. image below is looking North at the coast by the Dornoch Firth. Every time we kayak on the sea it reminds us of the need to invest in some good Sea-kayaks..but where to store them is the problem.
