Fantastic new climbing wall facility is underway at Foresters Park in Tranent. We had a site visit today to check it out. It looks fantastic so far. Although not as large as those available in Edinburgh i.e. Alien Rock ( http://www.alienrock.co.uk/) or Ratho Adventure Centre (currently closed?).The wall is 8m high in places and will provide an excellent venue for climbing courses and skill development. Naturally we have loads of ideas on the use of the wall but I guess we will have to await the openeing before we can build into programmes for next year. It will certainly be offered for use for schools and for use in our school allocations. It will also be very handy for the CPD courses and adult education courses that we run.

Interesting post. How can I find out more about this Bill? I think it would be ideal for our ALPs group to access when it opens. Currently we have to travel to Alien Rock to do so.
Will provide more information on the site when its nearer completion. Yes we too currently take our groups to Alien Rock. We hope to offer a range of courses using the new facility as soon as it opens. can you tell me more about the ALP?
Have a look at my blog http://edubuzz.org/blogs/sqhjourney
and the ALPs blog/site http://edubuzz.org/blogs/alps
They should give you an idea of what it’s all about. Give me a shout if you fancy discussing it further or have any comments or suggestions.
Thanks Barry. I hope that we can look at joint projects for APL next term. Perhaps we can meet up next time I am at the school? It’s certainly an interesting project with many unique challenges. I will keep an eye on the blog and the links you posted.
