P6/7 told us all about weak and aggressive responses in their assembly.  They shared their heroes and why they had chosen them.

Fair trade fortnight

P1/2 have been learning about fair trade.  We discovered our uniforms weren’t fair trade but we think this is because it’s not all cotton.  Some of us found the fair trade symbol on our snack.  We designed posters to tell everyone about fair trade.  Can you make any swaps to fair trade goods?

P3/4/5/ walk

P3/4/5/ went on a walk to Hopetoun monument.  We didn’t quite get there.  We had an excellent time.  It was great fun because  we had lunch in a teepee.  Maya liked going up the big high cliff best because you could see a great view from the top.

National story week

P1/2 went under a mushroom parachute to hear  stories.  We can tell the difference between an account and a story.

Effective contributors

Burn’s Day

It was really difficult to choose just three children from each class to recite their poems as they had all put a lot of effort into learning their poems.  Well done to everyone.

Burns Celebration!

We enjoyed our Burns assembly where we sang Scottish songs and listened to pupils in each class recite Burns poems they had learned.

Burns Day

We celebrated Burns day in nursery by dressing up in tartan, listening and dancing to scottish music, eating haggis, neeps and tatties and by painting some tartan pictures. We then attended the school assembly where we sang some scottish songs. What a busy morning!

In Nursery this week we have been learning about the cold weather and have made a display of hats, scarves and gloves to keep us warm.

Ice

Yesterday we went out into the garden to collect some leaves and sticks. We then put them into a container, filled it with water and put it into the freezer.
This morning we found that it frozen into a solid block of ice but you could still see the leaves and sticks through it.
We decided to hang it outside to see what happens.

The children made penguins and then we added speech bubbles.

Team building in the snow

Snow fun being back at school!

Primary 3-7 worked together to build snow structures. We made igloos, volcanoes and even the Bejiing Bird’s Nest Olympic Stadium! We enjoyed learning outside and everyone had great fun.

School Opening: 8 January 2010

We have received the following information from our Executive Director of Education and Children’s Services:

‘The weather forecast for East Lothian is for low temperatures and a possibility of light snow showers this afternoon and evening. Taking this into account and the progress made by our Roads team it has been decided to open all schools, in East Lothian tomorrow - Friday 8th January.  ‘

Therefore we look forward to seeing everyone back at school tomorrow.
