Posted by aberladywebclub in : Nursery , add a commentThe morning nursery were practising balancing at Basic Moves. They have to stay very still and have strong muscles to balance. They were also doing log rolls on the mats. They played with a partner using a big ball to throw and catch.
Circle time March 16, 2010
Posted by aberladywebclub in : Nursery , add a commentThe afternoon nursery had a circle time to talk about the seasons. The children chose something from the talking tub and told the others about their object.
They remembered that Christmas happened in winter, they knew that the farmer uses his combine in autumn and that baby chicks hatch in spring.

The morning nursery class visited The National Gallery in Edinburgh. The topic was the seasons.
The children looked at four different paintings. They looked for clues in the pictures to help them decide which season was being depicted.
Later in the workshop they made their own spring pictures.

The nursery and P1 have been celebrating Chinese New Year. They listened to the story of the first new year and talked about how they like to celebrate special days. The children made their own Chinese dragon. They performed a dragon dance inspired by the poem ‘Chinese New Year Dragon’ and then tasted some noodles and crackers, using chop sticks.
Morning nursery explore dinosaurs! February 3, 2010

Everyone enjoyed listening to the story and spotting ‘wow’ words. Instead of water we have gloop in the water tray so that we can make volcanoes. Some children have learned how to use stencils to make dinosaur shapes.

The children changed the role play area into a castle and have been pretending to be kings and queens
Nursery Sports Day June 10, 2009

The children took part in an obstacle race, throwing at a target, a sack race and an egg and spoon race. They played some parachute games while the scores were calculated. Then they had a prize giving.
Nursery and Gardening Club June 3, 2009

They were able to pick salad leaves and radishes from the raised beds. The gardening club have grown these from seed and were happy to share them with the nursery children. They made some funny faces with the vegetables to encourage the children to taste them.
