Primaries 6 and 7 have just started a new topic learning about Local and National Government. The topic has got off to a great start with visits from Stuart Mackinnon, our Local Councillor, on Friday 7th November and from Iain Gray, MSP, on Monday 17th November. On both occasions the classes learned about the roles of these two elected representatives, what motivated them to do their jobs and a little about how both Local and National Government work. Both classes had done some background research before these visits and were able to ask interesting and relevant questions of our visitors.

Over the next few weeks we are expecting our Westminster MP, Anne Moffat, to visit and we will ourselves be going to see the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh. The pupils will be working on developing their own political parties and the topic will end with a school wide election run by P6 and 7.
