Eva Swan – It was fun.
Robyn – We don’t want rubbish in our playground.
Finlay – If you don’t clean up your rubbish it will get smelly and make the whole earth smell.
Corin – It was very cold.

Lots of fun to be had at our Fun Day ……..

At Nursery last week we took part part in Walk To School week. We formed a ‘Walking bus’ meeting at the bus shelter at the park in the village every morning then walking up to Nursery. The weather stayed fair but it has been very cold!

Wordles

On the 6^th May Miss McKinnon arrived back from Campie. To remind her about all the great things that have happened in Athelstaneford Miss McKinnon asked us to create some Wordles. For those of you  that do not know what Wordles are it is when you paste some words or phrases in to a box and the website makes them into a word cloud. Everyone made one with their own ideas and design. These are now up on the walls all around the school and in Miss McKinnon’s office. We all thoroughly enjoyed this task and many of us have already tried them at home too.

We took our learning outside when we were writing this blog post.

Village Clean – Up

We are going around the Village to pick up litter, to keep the Village clean.  We are picking up litter at the park, Village hall and the Village. The whole School ( including the Nursery ) will be out around the Village on Wednesday and Thursday next week.

Soft start is when parents come to see your learning. This week some parents came to see classes to see their kids doing Number work.  In Primary 3/4/5 we got a white board and pen and spinner. We wrote 4+1+0=5 and spun it.  Next  we got the counters then did 7 groups of 3 and we went onto the carpet and did 3x backward and forwards.  I wrote this blog post outside on the benches. By Lily

Today in P5/6/7 (16^th May) we picked some teams for Meadow bank: 600m running  team, Cricket Ball Throw team, 150m running team, 80m running team, tug-of-war team, long jump team, relay team, sprinting team.

We are still looking for some more people from P5/6/7 to join some other teams so that we can win Meadowbank.

P5/6/7 haves been very busy creating 3 wall displays in groups of 5 or 6.  These displays are about Energy. We have been given 4 weeks to do this task we have got two more weeks to finish these wall displays.

   Assembly

We get challenges for each class to do and then after a couple of week time we bring it back to assembly and show it to the whole school. We also do award assemblies that parents come to in every 3 weeks. In assemblies we sing lots of different songs. We add peoples ages up when it`s their birthday.

At assembly this this week P7 told us all about camp and we shared all of the things we love about our school. Parents came to the our assembly on Wednesday for awards.

Although the weather hasn’t really been very nice recently we have still been learning all about Spring and Minibeasts at Nursery. We had a discussion in the story corner about what we knew about Spring and Minibeasts then decided what we would then do to learn more. We have made a Spring Garden display, put out puzzles and jigsaws to do, we put out stories, books and posters to look at, the listening centre is out with the stories ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ and ‘The Very Busy Ladybird’. We have been making minibeast windchimes, butterflies and ladybirds. We have made a minibeast house with Mrs Gray in the school garden and we are watching to see what insects are crawling about. Lewis’s mummy has brought in some tadpoles and we will look after them, watching them turn into frogs soon! We will be finishing off our topic with our summer trip to The Butterfly World which we are all looking forward to – not long to wait now!
