This afternoon P5/6 went to Merryhatton to buy plants for our wildlife area we are designing in the playground.  We were given the challenge in class of creating our own designs using our knowledge of habitats so we could attract different animal species.  We spent a great deal of our time this afternoon looking at what we had planned and trying to stick to a budget that Mr Lavery gave each pair.  We found that what we planned was not exactly what we created as we wanted to leave a lasting legacy and some of the plants we had chosen would only last the summer.  It was a fantastic learning experience as it gave us the opportunity to use our learning in a real life context whilst at the same time develop our numeracy skills.  We will be working on our planters on Thursday.
