Primary 1 decided to put their gift of £30 from Santa towards a coldwater fish tank for the classroom. They looked at books about keeping goldfish and made a shopping list of things to buy. The total cost was much more than they had expected!
Miss Curran gave Primary 1 £10 and a challenge to make it grow! The class decided to have a raffle. They did a survey to ask the other classes what prize they would like and the most popular was a cuddly toy. The £10 was used to buy a cuddly mother and baby orang-utan.
Then some children visited the other classes wearing sandwich boards to advertise the day of the raffle. It was a great success and Primary 1 raised £67 pounds!
Sunny and Goldie, two baby orandas, have now joined the class and settled well into their new home!
Primary 1 would like to say thank you to the whole school for supporting their venture and a huge thank you to Mr Boyes, who has helped to set up the tank and given us lots of useful advice on having happy, healthy goldfish!

Those fish look very pretty in your classroom! Elena told me that they were called Sunny and Goldie. What pretty names!
