Yesterday we were fortunate to have a visit to our classroom from Mr Bob Kibble and his assistant Ms Val Gordon from Edinburgh University to help us learn about the wind, which we are studying as part of our weather topic. He brought Jasmine along as well, can you spot her?
We learnt about why the wind is important to us and also a little about the energy it can provide.
We worked in 3 rotating groups, one looking at weather card stories and then used an electric desk fan to look at the energy we get from the wind, one looking at a weather vane which measures the direction of wind, and one making our own windmills for testing the strength of the wind outside on a windy day.
Mr Kibble and Ms Gordon then went to visit P4/5 to help them with their topic about water.Look at their post to see what they did in their science lesson…

It looks as though you had a really exciting science session with Mr Kibble, Ms Gordon and Mrs Wilson. Next time we have a really windy day at Aberlady Primary, I’ll know where to come to get some scientists to take some wind measurements for me. Well done, Primary 2!
