P2/3 have been learning about Malawi and how different the lives of children are there to those of children here in Aberlady. They wondered how they could help. They learned about Fairtrade, and then heard about the Rice Challenge! If a Malawian farmer sells 90kg of rice, he can afford to send one of his children to High School for 1 year. The class decided to set themselves a goal of selling 90 1kg bags of rice.
They wrote letters to parents.
They advertised in the playground.
In one week they sold……….90 bags of rice! (And could have sold more!)
Not only did they help the farmer, they made £62.62 profit to be added to the school’s Malawi Fund.
WELL DONE P2/3!!!
