P4K have been busy finding out about the Body. They have been practicing naming the bones in the human body and are looking forward to finding out how the stomach works!
Today we had a special Assembly where we heard all about Childline and the work that they do.
Next week we will be doing a sponsored line dance next week during our school Health Week to raise money for Childline. The whole school are taking part (including the teachers!)
Yesterday P4′s from 5 different schools came to Sandersons Wynd for an afternoon of activities based around the Maisie books by Aileen Paterson. The children worked in mixed groups and made Maisie biscuits, bookmarks and autograph books – where they wrote down the names of all their new friends from other schools. They also got to meet Lennox the Lion from the Library Service, who told them about all the things they can do at the library. The highlight of the afternoon was meeting Aileen Paterson, author of the Maisie books and listening to her tell them all about Maisie!
We have been finding out about toys in Malawi. We talked about our favourite toys too. Some children in Malawi have the same sort of toys as we have, but a lot of them have to make their own. We looked at some photos of toys Malawian children had made and then tried to make our own! We could only use a plastic bag, some newspaper and little bit of wool!
P4K have been learning about Malawi this week. We have been looking at food in Malawi and comparing it with our favourite meals.
We found out that in Malawi everyone eats nsima (which is made from cornflour) and that bananas are a popular snack. We also found out that Malawians sometimes eat boiled mice!
Welcome to Primary 4K at Sanderson’s Wynd new class blog. Come back soon to see all the exciting things we have been doing!
